Annual event brings together first responders, community members to remember those lost

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the March to Arch tradition will return to St. Louis on Sunday, September 11, 2023.

The event, which honors the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Gateway Arch and will proceed to Kiener Plaza downtown.

First responders, community members, and families of 9/11 victims are invited to participate in the march. The event is free and open to the public.

The March to Arch tradition began in 2002, and has been held every year since except for 2020 and 2021. The event is organized by the St. Louis Fire Department and the St. Louis Police Department.

In addition to the march, there will be a ceremony at Kiener Plaza featuring speeches from local dignitaries and first responders. The ceremony will also include a moment of silence and a reading of the names of the 9/11 victims.

The March to Arch tradition is an important way to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and to honor the first responders who risked their lives to save others.
